The festive season is upon us again, a time to catch up with family and friends, break bread and tell a story or two.

It is also a time to reflect, and this year has offered so much more to reflect on than I care to mention. Covid has been devastating to millions across the world.  We have seen people fight over toilet paper, food and other essentials, and I shake my head sadly at how quickly “the fabric of society” can unweave itself.

Newton’s third law says “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”, conversely our world has gotten smaller.  We learnt to survive without international travel, there is so much to see locally.  Spending money here has been great for our economy and our jobs, many small businesses have flourished over the past months.  We have learnt to connect with people again, sharing in a common enemy rather than being divided by individual goals.

I also learnt that asking us to “social distance” during COVID is a misnomer, as humans most of us can’t socially distance, we need other people, and other people need us.  I saw my friends (over zoom) more often during lockdown than I would normally in a year.

Maybe we need an “event” to remind us of how good we actually have it,  that we need to adapt and change to circumstances out of our control and that despite the change, life can and will continue in the “new normal”.

My business coach and friend taught me to “manifest the f@%k out of it”, by which he means to set goals, have dreams, focus on the important and put yourself out there.  The world has a strange way of paying you back.

Thank you all for your support this year, thank you for working with us as we change how POSmate operates, thank you for your patience.

From the team at POSmate, we wish you a very happy festive season and hope you manifest your dreams (and desires) in 2021.  Be safe and we look forward to servicing you next year.

Cheers
